Assessments administered by ATS in 2024-2025
How it Works
The student should begin by registering with Accessibility Services. We will work together with Accessibility Services to create a personalized accommodation plan for the student.
The student’s Letter of Accommodation does not list specific test accommodations. That’s because these are coordinated through Accommodated Testing Services, not through the student’s instructor.
After this, the student with approved testing accommodations must register with Accommodated Testing Services (ATS) for each quiz, test, or exam where accommodations are required.
The student must adhere to these registration deadlines.
Once the student registers, Accommodated Testing Services needs the instructor to submit any assessment materials.
Accommodated Testing Services will:
- send the instructor an initial request 13 days before the assessment
- send a follow-up reminder 5 business days prior to the assessment
- send an urgent reminder 3 business days before the assessment
To avoid any disruption to the student’s booking, please ensure materials are submitted by the two business day deadline.
The instructor should follow the instructions provided to submit their assessment details.
When submitting these details, the instructor will be asked to confirm the date, time, mode of delivery, allowable aids, as well as any additional information that is required to administer the assessment. The instructor will also be required to submit a digital copy of the assessment, if necessary, along with printing instructions.
Deadline for submitting assessment materials
Instructors should submit materials to ATS typically 5-7 days before the test date, but no later than 12:00pm 2 business days prior.
Important: Accommodated Testing Services requires all assessment materials to be submitted at least two business days before the scheduled quiz, test, or exam to ensure the students accommodations are in place.
Responsibilities
Instructors are responsible for:
- Providing Accommodated Testing Services with assessment materials by the requested deadline
- Communicating any special instructions or approved aids
- Refraining from adjusting time or conditions unless advised by Accommodated Testing Services
If a student presents an accommodation letter or mentions needing accommodations but has not registered with Accommodated Testing Services, please direct them to do so as soon as possible.
Faculty and staff are not responsible for applying test accommodations independently. Instead, students must:
- Be registered with Accessibility Services
- Submit their Accommodated Testing Services registration through ACORN for each assessment
Accommodated Testing Services (ATS) ensures that students with approved testing accommodations have a smooth and equitable assessment experience. Our responsibilities include:
- Administering quizzes, tests, and exams in accordance with accommodation requirements
- Invigilating students during accommodated assessments to maintain academic integrity
- Preparing and printing assessment materials
- Ensuring all accommodations are in place before students arrive
- Once assessments are completed, we ensure they are processed and either delivered securely to instructors or kept safely in our office for pick-up.
Our goal is to provide a supportive and organized testing environment that meets the needs of both students and instructors.
