Government of Ontario Indigenous Student Bursary

The Government of Ontario has provided funding for the Indigenous Student Bursary. This award is provided to self-identified Indigenous students with financial need who are attending the University of Toronto.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this bursary, students must:

  • self-identify as an Indigenous person in Canada. For the purposes of this bursary, an Indigenous person in Canada is anyone who states that they are an Indigenous person, that is, First Nations, Métis or Inuk (Inuit);
  • demonstrate financial need;
  • be attending U of T; and
  • meet the Canadian citizenship and Ontario residency requirements.

The bursary is available to students for any year of the program they are enrolled in. Students who have previous postsecondary education are still eligible to receive the Indigenous Student Bursary.

How to Apply

  • Complete the U of T Indigenous Student Bursary application.
  • Undergraduate and graduate applications for this program are administered by the University Registrar’s Office.
  • Paper applications or applications sent by email will not be accepted.

Decision

  • Applicants will be informed of the award decisions by email. This is usually within a month or two after the application deadline.
  • Award recipients will receive an award letter by email. The award letter will include information on the award payment and should be kept for future reference.
