Convocation Hall opens 60 minutes prior to the ceremony and seating is general admission with guests seated on a first come, first served basis.

Public Transit

Convocation Hall is located on Line 1 of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway system, with the closest station being Queen’s Park. It is also accessible via the 506 Carlton Streetcar route.  

The elevator at Queen’s Park station is on the southeast corner of University and College. Escalators can be found at the southwest and northeast station entrances.  

Parking

There are a variety of parking options available around Convocation Hall.

• All guests must have a ticket which must be requested by a graduating student. Guest tickets are not transferable.  
• Children less than 24 months of age do not require a ticket if they are sitting on a guest’s lap. Strollers are not permitted in the hall. 
• Guests without tickets are welcome to watch the ceremony in the Alternate Viewing Area. 

• Convocation Hall opens 60 minutes prior to the ceremony and seating is general admission with guests seated on a first come, first served basis.
• The graduating student process enters Convocation Hall approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. We encourage you to be seated at this time.
• All guests – including children – must remain in the guest seating area and are not permitted to accompany graduates to the marshalling area, the graduate seating area, or cross the stage with a graduate.
• Complimentary wifi is available on campus. Information on how to access wifi will be available at the ceremony.
• Convocation begins with the arrival of the Academic Procession (faculty and staff) followed by the Chancellor’s Procession (Chancellor, President, senior administrators, honoured guests) including the Eagle Feather Bearer, Bedel who carries the University Mace, and Esquires who carry the University Staves.   
• Please rise if you are able during these processions.  
• The Chancellor or their representative will invite everyone except those graduating to be seated. Please be seated.  
• The President or their representative will present all scholars to the Chancellor or their representative and ask that the degrees be conferred. This all takes place in Latin, but you will have a ceremony program with the language in English so you can follow along.  
• Following the Convocation Address given by an honorary degree recipient or guest speaker, graduates will begin to cross the stage.  
• Each graduate will pause as they cross the stage and have their name read by the Name Reader.  
• Once all graduates have crossed the stage the Chancellor will close Convocation followed by the singing of O Canada.
• Wait until all graduates have departed Convocation Hall and then head outside.  

• Meet up with your graduate outside Convocation Hall. 
• Enjoy taking photos and celebrating together.
• Visit the Bookstore where you can purchase diploma frames and other memorabilia for your graduate.
• Make sure your graduate returns their regalia within 60 minutes of the end of the ceremony. 

An alternate viewing venue will be available during all ceremonies. The venue, located directly south of Convocation Hall in the Sanford Fleming building, Room 1101, is fully accessible and will broadcast the livestream. 

Ceremonies will be webcast and can be viewed on the Convocation Hub. The video will only be live on the website once the ceremony has started.
